Life Coaching
Why would I want or need a Life Coach?
Sometimes we reach a place in life where we know something needs to change, but we're not quite sure how to get from where we are to where we want to be.
We may recognize that certain thoughts, behaviors, choices, or ways of responding are no longer working for us. We often know what we want intellectually, yet find ourselves returning to familiar habits or struggling to take the steps that will move us forward.
So, the obvious question is: Is what you're doing working for you?
A good coach doesn't live your life for you. Much like a coach in athletics, my role is to help you recognize where you are, clarify where you want to go, introduce new tools and strategies, and encourage you to practice them until they begin to become part of how you live.
From Awareness to Action
Life Coaching is not simply about talking through what you would like to change. Together, we establish meaningful, measurable goals and identify practical steps that can move you toward them.
You will be given tasks between sessions—opportunities to try something differently, practice a new response, make a different choice, or put what we've discussed into action in your everyday life.
Because ultimately, insight is valuable—
but change happens through what we do with that insight.
Life Changes 101
I often think of this work as “Life Changes 101.”
We can explore what may be contributing to a difficulty, while keeping our attention on what you can do differently now. Together, we look at the areas of your life where new perspectives, choices, and approaches can create alternate results.
Your progress comes from your participation. The clients who gain the most from coaching are willing to take what they discover in our sessions and put it into practice outside of the office, in their everyday lives.
You don't have to change everything at once. Sometimes one different choice, practiced consistently, begins to change much more than we expect.
If you want something to change, you've got to change something.
